Bobcat E17 Compact Excavator Hire
Reliable 1.5T all-rounder with retractable tracks.
A properly versatile 1.5-tonne mini excavator. Retractable undercarriage for narrow access, full-size performance once deployed, and the dig depth for most domestic footings.
The Bobcat E17 is the machine we hire most often — the sweet spot between micro-excavator access and full 1.5-tonne digging capability. The retractable undercarriage starts at 990 mm wide for access through pedestrian gates, then expands to 1,360 mm for full site stability.
With 2,430 mm dig depth, it handles domestic extension footings, garden pond excavations, and most drainage work without struggle. The Kubota D902 engine gives dependable power and the hydraulics are forgiving enough for operators stepping up from micro machines.

Questions about this machine
990 mm — just under a metre. That is narrower than most pedestrian garden gates but not as compact as the micro E10z.
Yes — 2.43 m dig depth covers standard domestic extension depths comfortably. For unusually deep foundations, consider stepping up to a 3-tonne.
